Beauty Favs

Here are 5 of my current favorite beauty products:

1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner:

This eyeliner is super soft and easy to apply! I love it!

This lipstick color is subtle and gorgeous!

I love Urban Decay's eyeshadow colors!  They are so pretty and rich in color.  I also got this lovely container at Ulta to put up to 4 colors in it.  Top Left: Half Baked, Top Right: A pretty white color from Sacha (not Urban Decay), Bottom Left: Naked, Bottom Right: Darkhorse

This moisturizer does a great job of rejuvenating your skin and protecting it from sun damage.

This scent is absolute perfection: soft, sweet, and mystical. It's hands down my favorite perfume!

¡Vamos a comer Mexicano!

Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody!  Today is our excuse to party and eat tons of yummy Mexican food!  One of my Cinco de Mayo favs is 7 Layer Taco Dip.  Not only is it easy and inexpensive to make, it's delicious!  Here's the recipe:

Ingredients (recipe at bottom)

Mix re-fried beans with taco seasoning

Spread seasoned beans at the bottom of a platter

Spread sour cream on top of beans

Spread salsa on top of sour cream

Add chopped tomatoes and green onions (chives)
Place lettuce

Add cheese (I used Mexican blend)

Place olives
 And.....

Viola!

I serve mine with tostadas and jalapenos for a kick but tortilla chips would do just fine

 Ingredients:
1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese,
softened
1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
1 (16 ounce) jar salsa
1 large tomato, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 bunch chopped green onions
1 small head iceberg lettuce, shredded
1 (6 ounce) can sliced black olives,
drained
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, blend the taco seasoning mix and refried beans. Spread the mixture onto a large serving platter.
2. Mix the sour cream and cream cheese in a medium bowl. Spread over the refried beans.
3. Top the layers with salsa. Place a layer of tomato, green bell pepper, green onions and lettuce over the salsa, and top with Cheddar cheese. Garnish with black olives.

Inner Elan Vital #1

Topic: Today’s Internet

Just over 20 years the Internet has evolved at a remarkably rapid pace.  Everything is “up in clouds” and is as easy to access as just sliding a finger across a glass screen.  This type of technology has connected this world in a magnificent way.  Being able to communicate with people and share information with them has led to this whole new separate world apart from its physical state.  This Internet world is vaster and seems to be endlessly growing.  But along with this rapid growth comes major responsibility.  What we all need to understand is that what is on the internet stays on the internet.  It doesn’t magically disappear, even if we thought we deleted it.  As technology is growing, the easier it is to retrieve information about ourselves.  This is why we have to be careful about what we share with each other, since people we don’t know can probably find that information just as easily.  Think about your plans for the future.  What college you want to go to?  What job you hope to earn?  Whether or not you want to start a family?  Is it really worth it posting something you’ll later regret?

Tips:

1.      Listen to your conscience: if you know it’s wrong, don’t do it

2.      Be smart: think ahead about the type of internet reputation you want for the present and your future

Introducing the Inner Elan Vital Series

Hello lovely people!   So I’ve decided to create a series within my blog called the Inner Elan Vital series.

The definition of élan vital is: the creative force within an organism that is responsible for growth, change, and necessary or desirable adaptations.

Within this series I will tackle present-day issues/topics, give advice, and provide my personal tips and strategies for obtaining a more peaceful and happy life.  My hope is that this series will help us to all evolve our lives in a way that will make it easier for us to deal with the negativity in our everyday lives and not let it affect our happiness.

I want you all to be involved in this blog series as well!  So make sure to send me any suggestions for topics or comment on any of my posts.  You can also contact me at: moniquemedleyblog@gmail.com
